My name is Cory Smith. I went to high school with Mick Foley. I read your article and Mick may have thought he was an outcast but he did hang out with the top jocks at Ward Melville. Kevin Kniphing,(Kevin James) on King of Queens,Robert Betcher, whose parents are dear friends of ours.I graduated the year after Mick. I didn't know him that well but had all the same friends. He was really cool..I remember he lost a bet with someone..he shaved half his beard off! It was hysterical. I do remember nothing fazed him and he was friends with everyone ,I don't think he had any enemies....he was kind of a silent funny. You knew he was thinking of something nuts. I played lacrosse with him and Betch. I lived with the Betchers and attended basketball games and other stuff with him. I want to say that out of all the people who get fame and fortune Mick truly deserves that. He is an inspiration to all kids and my daughter loves him. I have tried to see him when he came to Denver and get an autograph for my kid but due to health problems I was never able to get to go. His dad was the sports administrator I believe while I was there and I was summoned to the office more than once. I was in trouble quite a bit..political high school stuff. good ole Jack had me removed from the football program due to not living in the district and I was forced to move so I could play..hence the trip to Colorado. I did move on to play college ball and had a pretty good career till an injury sidelined me for life.
Mick was great for the world of wrestling and all I can say if you read this ,Mick your an inspiration to all who know you! Thanks for a great wrestling career!!!!
